Session Summary
AI is transforming how we build and operate digital systems — and redefining identity in the process. As machine identities, ephemeral workloads, and autonomous processes proliferate, traditional identity boundaries are dissolving. In this environment, identity can no longer be treated as an administrative function; it must be managed as a core security discipline.
This session explores what it means to “shift left” in identity security — embedding identity controls earlier in the development lifecycle, automation pipelines, and cloud infrastructure. We’ll examine how AI and automation are simultaneously expanding the attack surface and enabling new approaches to continuous validation, least-privilege enforcement, and rapid incident response.
Speaker #1 Bio – Marc Heimlich
Marc Heimlich has spent the past 15 years at the intersection of analytics and cybersecurity, with leadership roles at Vertica, ArcSight, Checkmarx, and Akeyless. His work spans data intelligence, AI, user behavioral analytics, application security, and identity management.
He lives in Boston with his wife, three children, and Parker the dog, and is an avid Boston sports fan.

Vani Thiruvengadam is a technology leader with 20+ years of experience across enterprise architecture, presales engineering, software development, and solutions delivery. As Director of Field Engineering at Akeyless, she partners with global organizations to lead cloud transformations, redefining how secrets, identities, and encryption are secured in an AI-driven world.
She has built and scaled teams at HashiCorp, Red Hat, and AppDynamics, driving adoption of cloud-native technologies, DevSecOps, and platform engineering. Known for translating complex technical concepts into business impact, she helps organizations evolve from monolithic systems to distributed, identity-centric architectures.
Vani can speak five languages and is hoping to learn many more. She loves art and is always looking to try new mediums be it woodwork or painting.
